The Illusionist Feeding Delusionism
I wanted to start my weekend mini article with this Rayism,
“It’s only the one you see in the mirror that knows the true value of your worthiness within your vocation so,don’t fool yourself if those outside the mirror temporarily value that worthiness more.”
When did publications and consultancy firms lose their ability to monetize actual intellect?
It seems for the last many years, there has been a shift from metrits based in accountability to unaccountable meritless bullshit!
Beware it's the compliments from the illusionist consultants that keep one in a delusional atmosphere feeding mediocrity.
Look, I get it, everyone likes compliments. But it is a path to mediocrity when business leaders become obsessed with bringing home stars to put on the refrigerator door next to their toddler’s potty-training achievements.
When did industry publications realize that selling vanity became more valuable than selling of intellect?
As an example, who else believes that if Keypoint Intelligence did not have those insane BLI Awards, they would even exist as a publication? Most would probably agree that without the BLI Awards, no one would even know who Keypoint Intelligence is.
In the year 2026, seeking unaccountable vanity should be replaced with seeking accountability to reality!
It’s not just the nonsensical awards that contribute to mediocrity based performance. It’s also the obsession many consultants or analysts have with delivering flattery and pandering rather than critical thinking along with the necessary conflicts needed on all journeys towards relevance.
One thing I have noticed in the print industry is how easy people seem to be manipulated. Many times, just getting a meritless compliment can make their head swell to a point of no return.
Don’t be fooled into a false reality for the benefit of the illusionist who capitalizes on creating delusions.
As Artificial Intelligence and the amazing advancements in technology continue disrupting all industries, it is more important than ever that one improves their human-to-human intellectual capabilities. Keep in mind that one’s intellectual progress will not come from meritless awards or gratuitous pandering.
I will always remember something my father told me when I was about 14. He said, when folks give you compliments, ask yourself why? Then, honestly, ask yourself whether you agree with the compliment and be aware when you don't.

I just don’t see Ares Capital continuing to believe in the vision of Visual Edge IT becoming a nationwide IT services company. It seems incomprehensible that Ares Capital will continue to invest in something that has cost Ares Capital so much in losses.
It really is too bad our industry has too many who are willing to ignore things for some form of personal benefit.
The industry’s OEMs have to push aside their constrained viewpoints and do something dramatic. The industry’s innovation at the end user’s level will take an OEM to bring to market that which will feed its dealer footprint to change the game in a quickly changing industry needing reinvention.
